St. Petersburg Times

The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films has happily warranted a mention in John Fleming's "Books on stage and music that are worth the drama" piece in the November 21 St. Petersburg Times. From the article:

The Lord of the Rings obsessives will revel in Doug Adams' immersion in the making of Howard Shore's score to the screen trilogy. The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films is an exhaustive exploration that includes many musical examples, a rarities CD and lavish illustrations.

One again, it's incredibly gratifying to see the book, and Howard Shore's music, in such illustrious company. Other recommendations range from Sondheim to Cage, and Barber to Mahler. Even the latest from the great Alex Ross sits nearby ... I still need to pick that up!
