FSMO: Any updates on Doug Adams’ The Music of The Lord of the Rings Films book, and how have you been involved in that process?
HS: I’ve been working with Doug over the years and he’s done a fantastic job, I mean, the book is incredible. It’s due to be released by the end of the year and I think it’s on course…probably in the fall.
Those generous words actually come from a pretty reliable source--Howard Shore, himself! It's all part of a very interesting piece by Eric Giordano that discusses the future of the new Howe Records. Though the piece is for paying subscribers only, it's well worth your money. FSM, for those unaware, is my once and future stomping ground and, for my money, the most consistently credible source of film music discussion available today.
